Justine Muir is a biotechnology specialist with over fifteen years experience in the successful
prosecution and defence of life sciences patents, in both private practice and big pharma. She has
specific interests in plants, proteomics and immunology.
She is qualified as a European Patent Attorney and a Chartered Patent Attorney and was awarded
the Ballantyne prize (for the candidate with the best performance in Infringement and Validity) in
2005. She has a degree in Biochemistry with Molecular Biology and experience of both industrial and
academic research environments gained before she entered the patents profession.
She sits on the UK Chartered Institute of Patent Agents Press and PR Committee and teaches on the
Brunel MSc course in Intellectual Property.
